ACAMB has mourned the passing of veteran journalists Dotun Oladipo, Sola Olugbemiro and Sylvester Enoghase, describing their deaths as a big loss to Nigeria’s media industry.

ACAMB Pays Tribute to Veteran Journalists Dotun Oladipo, Sola Olugbemiro and Sylvester Enoghase

The Association of Corporate and Marketing Professionals in Banks, ACAMB, has joined media professionals and organisations across Nigeria to mourn the deaths of three respected journalists: Dotun Oladipo, Publisher of The Eagle Online, Sola Olugbemiro of Access Weekly popularly called Solkem, and Sylvester Enoghase, Business Editor of Daily Independent Newspaper.

Oladipo, who was also Chief Executive Officer of Premium Eagle Media Limited and former Political Editor of The Punch Newspapers, died on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at the age of 56 after a brief illness in Lagos. He was a key figure in the growth of online publishing in Nigeria and served as President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers from 2017 to 2021. His work helped shape the transition of Nigerian journalism from traditional newsrooms to digital platforms.

Olugbemiro, widely known as Solkem, passed on recently. He was Publisher of Access Weekly and was respected across the industry for his unique style of reporting and consistent presence in the media space.

Enoghase, who was also Labour Editor at Daily Independent, was described as a thorough and principled journalist. His reporting on business and labour issues helped deepen public understanding and promote accountability.

The three men dedicated decades to journalism and publishing. Their deaths within a short period have created a sense of loss in newsrooms and professional circles across the country.

In a statement, President of ACAMB, Babajide Sipe, described the deaths as painful blows to the media and communications community.

“The passing of Dotun Oladipo and Sola Olugbemiro is a profound loss to Nigeria’s media and communications industry. Both were builders who dedicated decades of their lives to journalism and played important roles in the growth of Nigeria’s media space,” Sipe said. “For those of us in corporate communications and marketing, the media remains an indispensable partner in building informed communities and strengthening public discourse. They understood this relationship deeply and contributed immensely to the profession through their work, their leadership and their relationships across the media industry.”

ACAMB said while their deaths leave a gap, their contributions to journalism will continue to be remembered. The association extended condolences to their families, colleagues, friends and the entire Nigerian media community, and prayed for strength to bear the losses.
