NiDCOM Confirms Historic Diaspora Remittance As Nigerians Abroad Remit $1.57 Billion In Q2 2026

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission has confirmed a historic inflow of $1.57 billion from Nigerians abroad through International Money Transfer Operators in the second quarter of 2026.

In a press release issued on October 30, 2026 in Abuja, NiDCOM Chairman Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa said the figure is the highest quarterly remittance ever recorded in Nigeria.

According to data contained in the Central Bank of Nigeria Q2 2026 Statistical Bulletin, the $1.57 billion represents a 33 percent increase from the $1.18 billion recorded in the same quarter in 2025.

It also surpasses the previous all-time record of $1.47 billion set in the third quarter of 2024, making Q2 2026 the best performing quarter from 2019 to 2026.

NiDCOM gave a monthly breakdown of the inflow. April 2026 recorded $513.81 million compared to $597.44 million in April 2025. May recorded $472.13 million up from $288.17 million in May 2025.

June topped the quarter with $580.16 million, nearly double the $292.25 million recorded in June 2025.

The Commission said the Q2 performance builds on the strong recovery seen in Q1 2026 when diaspora inflows reached $1.29 billion, a 45 percent rise from $888.47 million in Q1 2025.

Dabiri-Erewa said the numbers show the strong commitment of Nigerians in diaspora to the welfare of their families and to the growth of the national economy.

She explained that diaspora remittances do more than support households. They help to boost foreign exchange supply, improve transparency in the forex market and strengthen economic resilience.

NiDCOM added that the rise in formal inflows shows growing confidence in regulated transfer channels and the need to create more enabling environment for diaspora investments.

The Commission reiterated its commitment to working with relevant agencies to make remittances and investments easier for Nigerians abroad.
