#OsunDecides2026: Polls Close Across State, First Results Emerge From Units

OSOGBO— Voting has concluded in several polling units across Osun State, with electoral officials commencing sorting, counting and collation of ballots in Saturday’s governorship election.

The exercise, conducted under heavy security presence, saw voters accredited and cast their ballots before presiding officers moved to tally votes at the unit level. Early results have begun to emerge from different parts of the state.

According to data on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s IReV portal as at 4:30 p.m., results from 903 of the 3,763 polling units had been uploaded.

The three major contenders in the race have expressed optimism about the outcome.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, who voted at Sagba Abogunde Ward 2, Unit 9, in Ede North Local Government Area, said he was confident of securing a second term.

Also speaking after voting at Ward 09, Unit 011, Ikire, in Irewole Local Government Area, the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, expressed confidence in victory.

Meanwhile, the African Democratic Congress governorship candidate, Najeem Salaam, raised concerns over the conduct of the poll. He alleged that agents of his party were not recognized in several locations across the state.
