BREAKING: Drama as Police take over Edo Assembly complex
Men of Nigerian Police have taken over the Edo State House of Assembly complex in Benin City, the state capital.
Prestige News Online reports that men of Nigerian Police in their large numbers were placed at strategic location around the building, denying everyone from entering the complex.
Police said their aim is to forestall breakdown of laws and order from impending taking over of the complex.
The speaker had on Wednesday raised alarm over impending forceful takeover of the assembly by people he didn’t mention.
The assembly yesterday impeached the deputy speaker and elected another lawmaker as deputy speaker.
