Preparations for the 2027 general elections have gained momentum as First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Monday flagged off a nationwide grassroots mobilisation drive for women of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The mobilisation campaign was launched at the One-Day Women Stakeholders Mobilisation and Empowerment Pre-Inaugural Summit held at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja.

The summit, convened by the First Lady, drew APC women leaders from across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, including wives of governors, serving and former government officials, political leaders, women support groups and grassroots mobilisers.

Organised by the Women Mobilisation Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, the summit was themed Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity. The campaign slogan for the mobilisation is One Voice, One Movement, One Choice, One Mandate 2027.

Speaking at the event, Senator Oluremi Tinubu charged APC women to go back to their states, local governments and wards to explain the policies, reforms and empowerment programmes of President Bola Tinubu administration to the grassroots.

She said APC women must take ownership of the mobilisation and support more women to contest elective positions in 2027, while ensuring unity among all women support groups working for the party.

Oluremi Tinubu listed key interventions of the administration in education, agriculture, social investment and women empowerment, calling on stakeholders to spread the message of Renewed Hope to communities.

In her remarks, Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, said the Federal Government remains focused on human capital development, food security and expanding economic opportunities for women.

Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdul-Aziz Yari, urged APC women to stay united and deepen grassroots engagement ahead of the polls.

APC National Women Leader, Mary Alile Idele, called for clear responsibilities, functional grassroots structures and regular community engagement that delivers measurable results.

The Women Mobilisation Directorate of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, led by Director Dr Betta Edu, announced its target of delivering 40 million women votes for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 presidential election.

According to Edu, mobilisation structures are being strengthened across communities with continuous door-to-door campaigns.

Participants at the summit pledged to build strong women-led structures from state to local government and ward levels as part of early preparations for the 2027 elections.

The Presidential and National Assembly elections are scheduled for January 16, 2027.
