Zamfara revokes contracts, orders Aliero to refund N22bn

The Zamfara state government has asked former Kebbi state governor, Senator Adamu Aliero to refund over N22 billion state fund allegedly received by his company-Allied Trading Firm- as contract sum for the connection of 75 towns and villages to national grid in 2013.
The state’s commissioner of works and transport, Engr. Isah Mayana, said this Wednesday at the end of the state executive council meeting in Government House, Gusau.
He said the previous administration under former Governor Abdulaziz Yari awarded the contract totalling over N25 billion.
The commissioner alleged that since then, the progress of works achieved by the company was only 60 percent, thus forcing the present administration of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle to revoke the contract.
The state executive council also unanimously agreed to revoke two other contracts in the sum of N27 billion each.
They were the rural water supply projects awarded in 2013 to China Zongho construction company which separately reached 13 and 75 percent .
