Bayelsa chapter of Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) has advised the electorates to vote credible candidates not political parties in the 2019 general elections.
Mr Victor Warinipre, IPAC Chairman in the state, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Yenagoa.
“I must urge the voting public to focus on credible candidates in the 2019 elections, this is the only way to move the nation’s democratic system to a high pedestal,” Warnipre said.
He added: “It is old fashion for the electorates to concentrate on choosing leaders from only one political party without looking at the credibility of the candidates involved.”
Warinipre said IPAC would campaign for credible candidates with the capacity to bring desired changes in the lives of Nigerians in 2019.
“If we see somebody that is credible, we will not mind supporting the person to win the election in 2019,’’ he said.
On the Continuous Voters Registration, Warinipre commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for giving eligible voters the opportunity to register across the country.
He urged eligible voters in the state to take advantage of the exercise, so as to be able to vote for candidates of their choice in future elections.
“The Permanent Voter Card is the weapon no gun and no machete can give us to select our leaders, go to any of the registration centres and ensure that you are registered,” Warinipre added
