Globacom renews commitment to Ofala Festival as official sponsor of 2026 edition in Onitsha
Nigeria’s leading promoter of cultural heritage, Globacom, has reaffirmed its dedication to preserving and projecting Nigerian culture as it sponsors the 2026 edition of the Ofala Festival in Onitsha, Anambra State.
Globacom is the official sponsor of Ofala 2026, a partnership the company has sustained faithfully for the last 15 years. The long standing collaboration shows the company’s belief that culture remains a vital endowment through which communities preserve identity, transmit values and secure their place in civilization.
The 2026 Ofala Festival is themed Igba Mbo, Iga N Iru – Strive and Advance From Resilience to Progress. The theme captures the spirit of Ndi Onicha, a people known for tenacity, initiative, flexibility and determination to progress. This year’s celebration also marks the 25th Ofala of the reign of His Majesty, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha.
In a statement, Globacom said its continued association with Ofala reflects a philosophy that places culture alongside connectivity as tools for national development.
According to the company, for Globacom, Ofala is far more than an annual cultural celebration. It is a living expression of identity, continuity and collective aspiration. The sustained partnership reflects the belief that preserving heritage and advancing society are not competing goals but mutually reinforcing pillars of a progressive nation. This aligns with Globacom’s philosophy of Never Settle for Less, which means to honour what is worthy while continually striving for something greater.
The company noted that Never Settle for Less is a philosophy of progress that respects the foundations of the past while seeking to broaden possibilities, deepen impact and move the nation forward. Globacom said it is proud to support a cultural institution that honours its roots while engaging the future.
Ofala has grown beyond a sacred ceremony of royal renewal to become a platform for cultural affirmation, community involvement and collective advancement. Globacom’s support for Ofala therefore goes beyond ordinary sponsorship. It represents cultural stewardship and responsible corporate citizenship and an investment in the legacy and continuity of a people.
Highlights of the 2026 Ofala Festival include the international Oreze Art Exhibition, the Youth Carnival, the culmination of Iru and Azu Ofala, the Obi’s sacred period of seclusion and ceremonial emergence, and the Medical, Health and Wellbeing Community Outreach.
Globacom’s backing of Ofala also aligns with the festival’s progressive ideology. Just as Ofala draws strength from ancestral foundations while looking to the future, Globacom has consistently championed telecommunications democratization, innovation and digital inclusion, connecting Nigerians to opportunities beyond circumstance.
