The Nigerian political terrain has been marred in recent times with various cases of irregularities which does not befit a democratic system.
The recent is the on-going attempt to deny the mandate of Hon. Babatunde Okeyomi who recently won the Primary Election of All Progressive Congress in Ojokoro LCDA.
After winning the primary election, signed the nomination form which was obtained from the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, it is however surprising to see the shocking omission of his name from the official nomination list of candidates who will be bearing the party’s flag in the next chairmanship election in Lagos State.
It’s hard within reason’s purview to simply understand the political manipulations which has taken place leading us to this state of abysmal political experience.
Hon. Babatunde Okeyomi according to the party’s constitution is the legal winner of the just concluded primary election, there’s been canny attempt from various quarters to make him step down from the race in order to accommodate the candidacy of the person whom his name was replaced with.

Hon. Okeyomi over the years has been a steadfast and committed party member of the APC, he was denied years ago the opportunity of contesting the same office by the then Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode. He is the most prominent supporters of Asiwaju Nola Ahmed 2023 ambition as he has one of the biggest support group in the State.
We must ask ourselves objectively if this is the reward for Party loyalty, will Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu stand and watch him being robbed of his mandate? or is he simply paying the price of being affiliated with Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola whom some party bigwigs are not happy with.
Hon. Okeyomi has paid his dues as a faithful party member, Justice must take it full course and his mandate must be restored else we will shoot ourselves in the leg in the long run .
