Anger as Atiku said northerners don’t need Yoruba, Igbo presidency ~ Prestige News

There is anger in the land as the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar said the northerners did not need an Igbo or Yoruba president to rule over them.

In a trending video, Atiku was heard in a desperate move trying to divide Nigeria, saying he had transversed the entire country and that what the average northerner needed was somebody from the north who also understood other parts of Nigeria.

“The northerner doesn’t need a Yoruba candidate or an Igbo candidate,” to govern them.

Nigerians reacting on social media accused Atiku of playing the ethnic card in order to sway the votes of the north to his side.

Festus Keyamo, APC’s presidential spokesman said “This is the height of desperation & daredevilry on the part of Atiku! This is so horrendous, so horrible & so thoughtless for Atiku Abubakar to use ethnicity to campaign, saying the North does not need a YORUBA OR IBO candidate? My God! Atiku needs to quit the race TODAY!”

Raheem Yisa Akorede said: “Yes he is using ethnicity now because he knows he has no way to win this election.”

Omo Ologo added: “Unifier on panick møde.”

Nkem wrote: “Atiku Abubakar who came under the guise of being a “Unifier” is telling Northerners that the north does not need a Yoruba or an Igbo candidate. This is proof that the Obi Datti ticket being pushed by the Obidient Movement is the only unifying candidacy.”

Yaikuub stated: “Atiku Abubakar will never be the president of Nigeria.”

Kwehu the hustler wrote: “Now we can understand why Atiku @atiku never condemned Mahdi Shehu’s divisive political utterances on his behalf. It is because he fully endorses such rhethorics. On the evidence of this video, it is clear that Atiku Abubakar CAN NEVER unify Nigeria. It is obvious that he….”

Farooq Kperogi added: “Atiku has had his own “emi lokan” moment. He reportedly told members of the Northern Elders Forum in Kaduna that northerners need him, not a Yoruba or Igbo candidate. That’s reckless ethnic baiting. They’re all the same.”
