Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership Marks Democracy Day with Renewed Commitment to Bilateral Growth | Prestige News
As Nigeria commemorates 26 years of uninterrupted democratic governance on June 12th – Democracy Day, the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership (NCSP) has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing strong bilateral relations between Nigeria and the People’s Republic of China.
In a statement to mark this occasion, the Director General of NCSP, Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, emphasized the significance of Democracy Day as a celebration of Nigeria’s democratic journey and an opportunity to reflect on the values of truth, peace, justice, and unity that support the nation’s progress.
“Democracy Day is not just a date; it is a powerful reminder of the resilience, strength, and foresight of our nation’s leaders who laid the foundation for a free and democratic Nigeria,” Tegbe said. “It is also a call to action for all citizens to recommit to nation-building and collective prosperity.”
As Nigeria deepens its global engagements, the NCSP is playing a vital role in strengthening collaboration with China across key sectors, including trade, investment, infrastructure, technology, and foreign policy. Tegbe reaffirmed the organisation’s strategic objective of maximizing the benefits of Nigeria’s growing economic and diplomatic ties with China.
He noted that the Nigeria-China partnership continues to thrive, guided by mutual respect, strategic alignment, and a common commitment to sustainable development in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The strategic partnership between Nigeria and China holds immense potential for economic transformation,” Tegbe added. “Our task is to ensure that we unlock these opportunities for the benefit of our people and future generations.”
As the nation celebrates Democracy Day, the NCSP calls on all Nigerians to embrace the spirit of renewed patriotism, unity, and shared responsibility in building a more prosperous, inclusive, and globally connected Nigeria.
