Yomi Duroladipo, popularly known as Arole Asa and Oba, has emerged as the new Governor of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, TAMPAN, Oyo State chapter.

The entertainer, who is the son of legendary Yoruba theatre icon Chief Duro Ladipo, is taking over the leadership of the association with a promise to reform, rebuild and reposition it for greater relevance.

Yomi Duroladipo comes from a deep cultural background. His father, the late Chief Duro Ladipo, famously known as Sango, remains one of the most celebrated figures in Yoruba theatre history, while his mother is widely associated with cultural identities of Oya and Moremi Ajasoro.

Speaking about his background, Yomi describes carrying his father’s name as both a privilege and a responsibility that requires discipline and commitment to uphold family values. But beyond the family name, he has built his own identity in the entertainment industry.

Known for his distinctive Yoruba traditional attire and signature cap, Yomi has carved a niche by fusing Western musical instruments like the saxophone with traditional Yoruba drums, creating a unique performance style that sets him apart.
