I Connected Obasanjo To Isbae U – Charly Boy Speaks On Viral Curiosity Made Me Ask Episode

Veteran singer and activist Charles Oputa popularly known as Charly Boy has revealed that he was the link behind former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s viral appearance on Isbae U’s Curiosity Made Me Ask.

Charly Boy disclosed this on X on Monday while reacting to the buzz generated by the interview.

According to him, the episode is a clear example of what happens when older generation trusts younger generation with opportunity.

He said many times what young people need is not money but a chance to prove themselves.

Charly Boy said when Obasanjo entered Isbae U’s world, he showed a different side of himself that many Nigerians had not seen.

He described how a man of Obasanjo’s age, status and experience agreed to sit with a young skit maker whose style is completely different, yet played along, matched the energy and entertained Nigerians.

He then revealed his own role in the collaboration.

He said he believed in Isbae U and his team enough to bring Obasanjo into their space and make the connection happen.

The interview had gone viral after Isbae U introduced Obasanjo as his former employee, joking that he was the one who paid Obasanjo’s salary, fed him and paid his rent at Aso Villa from 1999 to 2007.

Obasanjo took the joke in good faith and joined in the banter, answering questions about pop culture figures like Don Jazzy, Poco Lee and Carter Efe, which he said he did not know.

Charly Boy said the moment holds lessons for both generations.

He advised older Nigerians to open doors, recommend young talents and give them room to grow instead of just telling them to work hard.

He told young Nigerians not to wait for anyone to hand them future but to build something credible so that when opportunity comes they will be ready.

He added that legacy works best when generations support each other and grow together.
