NDDC Board And Management Pay Condolence Visit To Family Of Pioneer OMPADEC Chairman Albert Horsfall

The Chairman of the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Mr Chiedu Ebie, and the Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, have paid a condolence visit to the family of the pioneer Chairman of the Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission, OMPADEC, Chief Albert Horsfall.

The visit took place at the late statesman’s residence in Lagos on behalf of the Board and Management of the Commission.

Speaking during the visit, Mr Chiedu Ebie commiserated with the family over the death of Chief Horsfall, describing him as a distinguished Nigerian who contributed immensely to the development of the Niger Delta and the country at large.

He praised Chief Horsfall’s purposeful leadership while he served as Chairman of OMPADEC and noted that he laid the foundation for institutional intervention in the development of oil producing communities in the Niger Delta.

Also speaking, NDDC Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, described the late Chief Horsfall as a pioneering figure whose contributions to the growth of the Niger Delta will remain in the history of the region.

According to Ogbuku, the people of the Niger Delta will continue to celebrate Chief Horsfall for the solid foundation he laid during his tenure at OMPADEC and for his role in the evolution of interventionist agencies for the region.

Before his appointment as OMPADEC Chairman, Chief Albert Horsfall had an outstanding career in Nigeria’s intelligence and security services. He was a pioneer member of the Nigeria Security Organisation, NSO, served as the pioneer Director of the National Intelligence Agency, NIA, and later became the second Director-General of the State Security Service, SSS.

The NDDC Chairman and Managing Director, on behalf of the Governing Board and Management of the Commission, extended heartfelt condolences to the Horsfall family, praying that God grants the family the fortitude to bear the loss and grants the deceased eternal rest.
