Oriire Schoolchildren Rescue: Sooko Agoriesin Commends Tinubu, Security Agencies for Successful Operation
The Sooko Agoriesin of Ile-Ife, His Royal Majesty, Aare Sooko Oladotun Hassan, Esq., who is also the Aare Yoruba Agbaye and President of the Yoruba Council Worldwide, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigeria’s security agencies for the successful rescue of the schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Sooko Agoriesin described the rescue operation as a painstaking laudable achievement welcome development and a testament to the commitment of the Federal Government and security agencies towards safeguarding the lives of citizens, particularly vulnerable children and teachers across the country.
In a statement made available to journalists on Saturday, the Yoruba Council Worldwide President praised the courage, professionalism and dedication of the security personnel involved in the operation, noting that the safe return of the victims after 56 days in captivity was a moment of relief for their families, the people of Oyo State and Nigerians at large.
He also commended President Tinubu for providing the necessary leadership and support that enabled the security agencies to carry out the operation without compromising national security.
We specially acknowledge the bravery of the security intelligence team to have neutralized some of the terrorists during the operations, while we call for further due diligent investigation of the 8 arrested terrorists.
According to the Monarch, the successful rescue of the victims reinforces confidence and the importance of sustained collaboration among government institutions, security agencies, traditional leaders and communities in the collective fight against insecurity.
Sooko Agoriesin said, “I commend His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and our gallant security agencies (Nigeria Police Force, DSS, Airforce, Special Security Forces, Army and Local Vigilantes) for the successful rescue of the schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
“The safe return of these innocent children and their teachers is a significant relief and a demonstration of the government’s determination to protect the lives and properties of Nigerians. The bravery and commitment of our security personnel in ensuring this rescue deserve commendation.
“We urge the government and security agencies not to relent in their efforts towards completely defeating criminal elements and ensuring that schools and communities across Nigeria remain safe environments for learning and development.”
The Sooko Agoriesin further expressed sympathy with the families of the victims over the traumatic period they endured, while praying for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives during the unfortunate incident.
He called for continuous investment in intelligence gathering, community security partnerships and proactive measures to prevent future attacks, stressing that peace and security remain essential for national development.
