Fidelity Bank Plc has elevated 433 members of its workforce following the conclusion of its 2026 promotion and notch award exercise.

The latest promotion represents about 13 percent of the total staff strength of the tier-one lender. The figure shows consistent growth in career progression at the bank, compared to 376 staff promoted in 2025 and 337 in 2024, which represented 12 percent and 11 percent of the workforce.

According to the bank, the annual exercise is part of deliberate efforts to celebrate hard work, encourage merit and entrench a culture of high performance.

Since Dr Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe became the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, the bank has maintained a tradition of yearly promotion to appreciate staff contributions, build internal capacity and groom future leaders.

The bank explained that its people-focused investments go beyond promotions. In recent years, it reviewed upward salaries for all grades in 2022, 2024 and 2025, introduced staff buses to reduce commuting stress, improved access to quality healthcare and widened training opportunities for career growth.

It also broadened its staff mortgage and home ownership plan to cover junior to middle level cadres from Assistant Banking Executive to Deputy Manager, with upward adjustment of mortgage limits to reflect current property prices. With this, Fidelity Bank stands out as one of the few banks offering housing support to staff below managerial level.

Other employee centred programmes being sustained include initiatives for teamwork, engagement, work-life balance, sponsorship for professional examinations and continuous learning.

Analysts say these welfare driven policies have strengthened Fidelity Bank’s image as a great place to work and one of the most sought after employers in the Nigerian banking sector.

The bank added that the exercise aligns with its long term people strategy built on attracting the best talents, nurturing them, rewarding professionalism, innovation, discipline, customer centricity and consistent results, while equipping them for bigger roles.

Fidelity Bank Plc is rated among Nigeria’s leading banks, providing services to over 10 million customers via its digital platforms, 255 branches across Nigeria and its United Kingdom subsidiary, FidBank UK Limited.

The lender has won several local and international recognitions, including the 2025 Development Bank of Nigeria Innovation Award for MSME support, Best Retail and SME Bank by Independent Newspapers, Best Bank for Export and Trade Finance and Most Innovative Bank of the Year at the 2025 BusinessDay BAFI Awards, and Nigeria’s Best Private Bank at the 2025 Euromoney Awards.

Other laurels include Most Improved Commercial Bank of the Year by Nairametrics, SME Bank of the Year by NewsDirect, Straight-Through Processing Excellence Award by Citi Group and Excellence in Community Empowerment by Global Brands Magazine.
